MIRARCO Mining Innovation has been selected as one of 24 grant recipients through the Mining Innovation Commercialization Accelerator (MICA) Network.
MIRARCO will receive $280,027 from MICA, a program focused on developing initiatives for the commercialization of mining technology to increase productivity and sustainability within the mining sector.
MIRARCO’s project will focus on one of three bioleaching processes to extract battery metals, Nickel and and Cobalt, from pyrrhotite tailings. The funding received will be used to support the recruitment of personnel, infrastructure developments, and piloting of the BacTech process using pyrrhotite tailings from Vale.
The research is supported by industry partners Vale, and SME BacTech Environmental.
