On July 23, 2025, MIRARCO’s President and CEO Nadia Mykytczuk PhD spoke at Minister Stephen Lecce‘s announcement of $7 million in new funding to the Critical Minerals Innovation Fund.
As previous recipients of CMIF support with partner Vale Base Metals, MIRARCO can personally attest to the value of this funding for accelerating mineral resource innovation here in Northern Ontario.
Last year, CMIF funding allowed us to advance our work on extracting battery minerals from mine wastes. Not only does this work unlock trapped value, it addresses legacy environmental concerns and helps ensure a cleaner, more sustainable mining future.
We are thrilled to see that Ontario continues to be recognized as a hub for critical minerals and a future leader in the green energy transition. Thank you to the Ministry of Energy and Mines for your support and vision.
